Bishop Hubbard And His "Gay and Lesbian" Friends and Supporters

We're going to start this post with an announcement from an Albany Diocesan Church Bulletin.  This is a scan of the actual posting in a ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH'S Bulletin.  I wanted to repeat that because what will follow is absolutely going to bring into doubt the CATHOLIC origins of this "Bishop".

The Announcement:

The following articles come from Catholic Culture and Life Site News and Catholic Vote.  You will find many different articles concerning this topic at these sites.

First, Catholic Culture:

Catholic Association for Lesbian and Gay Ministries

The Catholic Association for Lesbian and Gay Ministries - "CALGM" (formerly the National Association of Catholic Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries - NACDLGM) was formed in 1994. Its self-stated mission reads thus: "Inspired by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and grounded in the Catholic moral and social justice tradition, the National Association of Catholic Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries, as a resource and network, encourages pastoral care with lesbian and gay persons and their families." Unfortunately, what this organization offers is directly contrary to true pastoral care. Rather than ministering to those with same-sex attractions, the NACDLGM only encourages a defiance of the Church's teachings. A better resource for this issue is the Courage website.

These statements were accurate as of 4/06/2010.  I see no reason to doubt the authenticity of this since Life Site News has an article on Bishop Hubbard stating the same thing as the notice.  And then we have Tom Peters of Catholic Vote who has this to say about Bishop Hubbard:

[Updated] Bishop Hubbard to Celebrate Mass for Dissenting Gay/Lesbian Group

What a difference a bishop makes. When the “Catholic” Association for Lesbian & Gay Ministry attempted to hold a fundraiser in a St. Paul-Minneapolis parish several months ago, Archbishop Niensted quickly put a stop to it.
When the same “Catholic” Association for Lesbian & Gay Ministry (CALGM) announces it will host its national conference in Albany, NY, Bishop Howard Hubbard agrees to celebrate Mass for them.
Bishop Hubbard turns 75 in a little over two years, but he seems intent on continuing to inflict pastoral damage on his diocese until he retires.
This is the same bishop who has publicly praised and gave Communion to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, approved the distribution of free needles by Catholic Charities to serial drug abusers, and through his position on the US Bishops’ committee on international justice and peace, puts Catholic endorsement behind horrible political proposals which will harm our fragile economy.
Bishop Hubbard’s association with the “Catholic” Association for Lesbian & Gay Ministry presents a scandal to members of his whole diocese, who are being dutifully informed of his activities in their parish bulletins (imagine having to explain this news item to your kids?). Numerous distressed Catholics from the diocese emailed me to alert me to this story. It’s not the first time they’ve found themselves in the position of trying to figure out what on earth their bishop is up to.
We need to keep praying for the Catholics of Albany that they will persevere until the time comes when they are granted better shepherds.
If you wish to contact Bishop Hubbard, you may do so (with charity) by emailing
UPDATE: Some folks in the comments are claiming I didn’t do enough research on CALGM. I just spent ten minutes more on this and here’s what I found (in addition to what I’ve posted on CALGM before):
Catholic Culture’s rating of the group’s website:
  • There is a consistent denial of the Church’s teaching on the objective sinfulness of homosexual acts. Example(s)
  • There is no mention on the site of the essential “call to chastity”. Example(s)
  • The links section includes many secular, pro-gay activist organizations.
The blog “Queering the Church” would “happily endorse a retreat” led by CALGM. ‘Nuff said.
For another peak into what CALGM actually does and how it distorts Catholic teaching, read this woman’s experience.
As I’ve written before, groups and individuals that dissent from the Church’s teaching on these issues are smart enough to hide it from plain view. The real damage happens in the actual encounters and private sessions they host (where they are careful to exclude persons who actually agree with the Church’s teaching).
I think it says a lot about what they are attempting to do when they are forced to be deceptive about how they accomplish it.
UPDATE 2: More from Kathleen Gilbert at LifeSiteNews:
One visible clash between [Catholic Alliance for Lesbian and Gay Ministry] and Catholic teaching took place in 2008, when the group invited then-coadjutor Bishop Jaime Soto of Sacramento to speak at their national conference – an invitation that the bishop accepted.
To organizers’ surprise, however, Soto took the opportunity to point out that any sexual activity outside marriage between a man and a woman is sinful.
“Sexual relations between people of the same sex can be alluring for homosexuals but it deviates from the true meaning of the act and distracts them from the true nature of love to which God has called us all. For this reason, it is sinful,” he said.
Following the speech, which met with mostly silence from the audience, a board member of the association told the crowd, “on behalf of the board, I apologize. We had no idea Bishop Soto was going to say what he said.”
What will Bishop Hubbard say, I wonder?

In the past, specifically in 2004, in the MJO Report on Pedophilia and Bishop Hubbard, questions have come about regarding his position.  It was quite obvious that there was nothing said about the Same Sex Marriage proposal that got passed in Albany this last legislative session except as a passing statement condemning the issue, but that was it.  In fact, our sources have gone so far as to chastise the entire group of Bishops in New York (save one) for not "coming out" shall we say, AGAINST "gay marriage".

We have reliable associates that "saw no priests lobbying in Albany against same sex marriage," and "saw no Catholic priests at the July 24 rally in Manhattan for traditional marriage in the Archdiocese of New York."
That really doesn't surprise me since Archbishop Dolan took a powder the week before the vote and of course there is his smiling face at the Mass at St Francis Xavier.( Dolan at "Gay" Mass )
There were Protestant ministers lobbying against same sex marriage and Orthodox Jews but no Catholic priests in Albany.  I wonder why that was?  A deal maybe, between the Bishops and Cuomo?

There were Protestant Evangelical ministers and Orthodox Jews marching for traditional marriage in Manhattan but no Catholic priests.  Maybe the reason for that was because they were told NOT to go...makes one stop and think, doesn't it.

It's no wonder our schools are turning out such terrible Catholics...with examples like this, the kids don't stand a chance to learn what is right if they wanted to.

More info on this?  Here is a link from well know Columnist and radio personalty Randy Engel.  This is a radio interview that "Shatters Litany of "Gay" Myths."‏ It was broadcast June 30, 2011 and is two hours long, but worth the listen.  Randy Engel Interview.

There will be much more coming.  A copy of the '04 report can be sent to you if you wish to e-mail the listed address on the Blog and give us a valid return address and we will gladly send it to you.  A word of caution.  It is long...500 plus pages.  It is extensive and really asks a lot of questions.  Every Catholic should have a copy of it and read it, just so you know what you are dealing with.

The "Catholic In Name Only" schools is New York State are among the worst offenders in the Country.  We will profile them as time goes on.  We just wanted to bring you up to date on our New York "Bishops".

More to come.

Jesus Is Lord!

  1. Howard Hubbard is the poster child for what typifies the secular pandering, gutless, moral weaklings that are found "leading" many Catholic diocese in the U.S. Without strong "moral leaders" that obey and follow Canon Law, it's no wonder the church is in crisis. God Bless the faithful that still respect The Holy Father and keep the true faith!
