Diocese of Scranton and "Catholicism" Or Lack Of...Oh Yeah and PP Too!

This is the link to the first part of Michael's talk at Scranton that was postponed.  Please enjoy it.

Michael Voris at Scranton

This past Saturday at Wilkes Barre PA, Michael Voris gave his talk to a very full house.  The weather was terrible; thunderstorms, hail all the good stuff.  The Devil really didn't want him to speak, but he did anyway.  Now I'm told that his video posting at Real Catholic TV will be up for all to see on Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.  I sure wish I could have been there.

Since this is Holy Week, I thought it only fitting that we deal with the Death of Jesus and why it happened.  The following piece came to me from a reader and I was so intrigued at what it said, I had to post it in it's entirety.  We have more to comment on the great schism within the "Catholic Religious Order of Jesuits", but that will be our next post.  I just wanted to share this story with you.  Please have a Blessed Easter and please heed what is written in this story.

                          WE WANT BARABBAS!

The choice is given-do we want Barabbas, a freedom fighter who is a political revolutionary, or do we want Jesus Christ, the Son of God?

Barabbas offers the vision that our deepest needs can be met by human solutions.  The Jewish people had a hope for freedom, and in that fact, God Himself made a promise that their freedom would be given to them.  But God understands better than we do why we need freedom.  So He sends His Son (who would take upon Himself our own sins, which is exactly why we are slaves in the first place) so that we might accept Him as our only hope.

No, we would rather Barabbas.

While we know that Jesus Christ alone is our Savior, we do not always think in terms of eternal life, and we make our decisions accordingly.  We see even in the history of the Church, the spotless Bride of Christ made up of weak members, our constant wandering from this freedom we possess only in Christ.  How often in the Church's history have we chosen a worldly solution in order to deal with a problem which only full adherence to the Gospel could possibly begin to heal?  We have a tendency to choose Barabbas, even though we know we must choose Christ.  How much harm has been inflicted upon the innocent, upon the needy, because as members of the Body of Christ, we chose worldly means to deal with a crises, a temptation, a need, etc.  In this regard, the members of the Church - clergy, religious and lay faithful - must constantly be reminded by the Sacred Liturgy, the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy, and by the witness of other faithful members that our freedom and joy does not ultimately come from the goods of this world.

When we choose Barabbas, our view of what is good and what is evil itself is compromised.  Last Friday evening, the United States budget was passed.  It passed containing funding to an organization which provides by its own admission, 330,000 abortions every year.  Many articles in the press have justified this funding, stating that 1) the governmental funds are not allowed to be used for abortions, but for other services, and 2) that the organization provides over 1 million screening for cervical cancer, 830,000 breast cancer screenings,(it can't do Mammograms by the way) and over 4 million tests and treatments for sexually transmitted diseases.

Would we ever want to help out an organization that kills 330,000 children every year, no matter what good it might do?  Yet we think little about it.  Look what good would not be accomplished if we did not help them out.  We want Barabbas.

Providentially, not coincidentally, the very next morning, the Office of Readings in the Liturgy of the Hours quoted the Second Vatican Council's constitution on the Church in the modern world as teaching:

Holy Scripture, with which the experience of the ages is in agreement, teaches the human family that human progress, though it is a great blessing for man, brings with it a great temptation.  When the scale of values is disturbed and evil becomes mixed with good, individuals and groups consider only their own interests, not those of others.  The result is that the world is not yet a home of true brotherhood, while the increased power of mankind already threatens to destroy the human race. (Gaudium et spes, #37)

Yes, we must admit, that our choosing of Barabbas, a freedom fighter, one who will bring a better world, has blurred our own understanding of even good and evil.  Perhaps the cries that we hear during the Passion will help us be humbled to return our lives completely to the Savior Who alone gave up His life so that we might live, and live free.

This was something that I thought should be posted for Easter as well.  And in case you don't believe the stats on Planned Parenthood, here is an example from their own propaganda.  Though Senator Kyle said 90% of their business was abortion, the numbers I give below are actual from a PP Regional office.  He was trying to raise an awareness and got a little carried away.  Can't blame him really...they are insidious.  Any doubt just look at what's happening in Philadelphia.  This is an actual stat page from one small regional Abortion center of Planned Parenthood.  I would like you to pay close attention to the Pregnancy Test stats and the Abortion stats including the Medical Pill or RU486 as well as the "emergency contraceptives."  Adding them up gives you a total of 12,197 Pregnancy tests against a total of 5610 Surgical, Chemical and "morning after" abortion pill.  PP says they do 3% of their business as Abortions.  This looks like 46% to me.  Even taking out the "morning after pill", which you really can't, you still have 21.3% as abortions...their own figures.  Enjoy the reading..

Sorry about the quality of the chart, but when you change colors to black and white, you sometimes wash out some of the detail.  Just remember, PP kills unborn children.  Just look at this picture as a reminder.

And since this is all about murdering the unborn, here is the list of Senatorial "Murderers":

Voting to continue federal government funding of Planned Parenthood were 17 Catholic Senators: Mark Begich (D-AK), Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Robert Casey (D-PA), Susan Collins (R-ME), Richard Durbin (D-IL), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Tom Harkin (D-IA), John Kerry (D-MA), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Joe Manchin (D-WV), Claire McCaskill (D-MO), Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Patty Murray (D-WA), and Jack Reed (D-RI). These are Catholic?

We are now going to include the House of Representatives List of Murders of the Unborn  with many thanks to American Life League.

ALL lists the following Catholic U.S. Representatives (alphabetical by last name) as voting “NO” to defund Planned Parenthood:
Jason Altmire, PA; Joe Baca, CA; Xavier Becerra, CA; Timothy H. Bishop, NY; Robert Brady, PA; Michael E. Capuano, MA; Dennis A. Marywood, Michael Voris, Bishop Bambera and The Diocese of Scranton

We have been fortunate to be able to bring you the latest and the best in information on this still unfolding story.   Here is the link from Michael Voris on the background of the rejection.  Please watch it all the way through as it is only about 7 minutes long but full of information.  Check out the Video and then finish reading this post...I promise you it will be eye-opening.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDJx49A5D-4. We try to detail the schools that call themselves "Catholic" in order to show just how Non-Catholic they really are.  It doesn't matter if you have it run by Secular people or a "So-Called" religious order. (note no capital on 'religious').  Marywood University doesn't follow the dictates of the Catholic Church in anything it does.  If you want a truly Catholic Education for your children, Marywood does NOT fit the need.

We have detailed part of their program in a former post here, http://non-faithfulcatholicschools.blogspot.com/2011/04/continuing-saga-of-pedophiladelphia.html and here http://non-faithfulcatholicschools.blogspot.com/2011/03/philadelphia-storyall-about.html.

We have now found even more disturbing information about Marywood and their "way of life".
The "sisters" there, with a VERY few exceptions, subscribe to the Saul Alinski School of Socialism.  On their Justice and Peace web page, there is not one mention of following the dictates of The Church.  Here is part of a quote from their page:

Responding to the movement of Spirit as manifested in our IHM Chapter documents, Core Values, Vision Statement, and Constitutions, and echoed through the International Union of General Superiors (2010), we ask the question and attempt to live into the mystery of the shift of consciousness that is needed for the life of the world. This shift involves a deepening awareness of the mysticism of our call as women religious and the prophetic stance to which it calls us. The goal is to journey deeper, encountering communion with the Holy One and all that is, which in turn enables us to “see the world with the eyes of God and live in the world with the heart of Jesus.” Justice becomes the way of life.

This statement in itself begs the question as to what they are really referring to, and the word MYSTICISM is one the reasons for the question, especially when they foster the beliefs of some of the most radical socialist groups in the Country.  And I'm not really certain where Jesus fits into their life at all.  As you read on, I think you will ask yourself that same question.

One of these groups is "Maryknoll Center for Concern."  This group embraces the UN health mission which sets up Abortion and Sterilization clinics in third world countries for population control in the guise of "healthcare".  Just like Doctors Without Borders who perform Abortions and Sterilizations free of charge when they go into the disaster ridden parts of the world.  This link is from American Life League.

The IHM "sisters" are advocates of  Amnesty for Illegal Aliens.  They also believe in the redistribution of wealth and use the 'Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good' as an example of their ideas.  Here is a section from the website of the "CIA":

"Economic Justice

The economy should serve the people, not the other way around. All workers have the right to organize and join unions. They also have the right to fair wages, safe working environments, and access to productive work. And while people have a basic right to economic initiative and private property, this right has its limits. No person should amass excessive wealth when others lack the basic necessities of life. (Emphasis mine).
“There are needs and common goods that cannot be satisfied by the market system. It is the task of the state and of all society to defend them. An idolatry of the market alone cannot do all that should be done.”  This quote comes from John Paul II in 1991.  It does not suggest re-distribution of wealth as does this group... and of course the Marywood 'sisters'.

And then there is the SOA.  School of the Americas.  I'm not really sure where they fit in here, but here is one of their posters...I'll let you decide for yourselves:

I guess this must have something to do with the justice part of their website.

And then there is the question of "EarthCARE"  Remember folks that this is a "Catholic" religious order, not some off-the-wall environmental wacko group...oops...I'm not so sure about that.  Here is a link to that part of their site.  I don't see anything on the page that speaks to Jesus as their Lord or to Mary for that matter EarthCARE

Then we have the violation of the Vatican directive about "Liturgical Dance".  The "sisters" have had a liturgical dance ensemble for over 5 years.  They held a "Gathering" at Immaculata University in 2005.  Dancing in the Sanctuary during Mass is a "no no".  They don't seem to care.  They did it this past Christmas in the Cathedral while Bishop Bambera sat there watching.  That picture is already up on one of the previous posts on Scranton.  So...here they are dancing away.  Remember, these are "Nuns" that are supposed to be faithful to Rome.  Yeah....right.

And then of course we have another example of the "dance group" doing their thing.  This also took place at the "Gathering" by the "Liturgical Dance" group.
This is a "Catholic University" that has the full support of Bishop Bambera.  I guess we know just how "Catholic" the Diocese of Scranton is now, don't we.  I hope Cardinal Rigali is pleased with his appointment of a homosexual and abortion approving Bishop that doesn't let Orthodox Catholic opinion have a place in the Diocesan Venue, but abortion loving lesbians can speak any time they want to.  Way to go Cardinal!!

Oh, and just as an afterthought, Teresa Osborne, the Chancellor of the Diocese is a graduate of Marywood and also has NEVER held a Diocesan post before this one.  Kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it?  Nah, not really.  Destroy from within is the Alinski way!

Marywood University, Addendum for Diocese of Scranton

Just a few hours ago I posted an article about the lack of Catholicism in the Scranton Diocese and the fact that they wouldn't let Michael Voris speak at Marywood.   Well, it has now become the ENTIRE Scranton Diocese.  Here is the announcement from the Diocese:

Statement Regarding Michael Voris

Posted on: 04-7-2011 Posted in: News
The Diocese of Scranton has determined that Mr. Voris will not be allowed to speak in a Diocesan or parish facility. After these engagements were scheduled, the Diocese became aware of concerns about this individual’s views regarding other religious groups. In videos posted on the Internet, Mr. Voris makes comments that certainly can be interpreted as being insensitive to people of other faiths. The Catholic Church teaches us to respect all people, regardless of their faith tradition.
Although the Diocese shares Mr. Voris’ support of efforts to protect human life, his extreme positions on other faiths are not appropriate and therefore the Diocese cannot host him.

His criticism was not meant to be insensitive...after all, the Catechism calls the Catholic Church the "One True Church", so where is he wrong?  Since we now know that the Diocese of Scranton can't take the criticism of a True Catholic, then maybe Pope Benedict made the wrong choice for Bishop...maybe Bishop Bambera should have stayed in his previous position and remained a director on the board of the University of Scranton.  At least then he wouldn't have to try and act like he cares whether an Abortionist comes to a "Catholic" ,oops I mean Jesuit college and makes them all look like wishy-washy namby-pamby  "enablers".  Be Catholic.  That means standing up for what is the TRUTH as taught by Jesus Christ.   I don't know what 'god' you follow but it surely isn't Jesus.  He would be there with a whip driving them from His House.  What do you do Bishop?

NOTHING!!

You don't want to "offend" anyone.  Did you ever stop to think you might just be offending GOD?

And Cardinal Rigali, good luck...you are truly going to need it.

Jesus IS Lord!!

Continuing Saga of "Pedophiladelphia Story"...Marywood University, Scranton PA

This weekend a presentation by Michael Voris, Real Catholic TV was scheduled at Marywood University in Scranton, PA.  His appearance had been approved by the Board at Marywood and he was all set to go.  As of Wednesday,  April 6th, the presentation had been canceled.  The 'reason'  given was that he was "too controversial" to have on Campus.

The reason Michael Voris would be considered too controversial at Marywood is because he tends to always tell the truth about Catholicism...at Marywood, they don't.  Former Bishop Martino had started investigating Marywood for violations of Catholic directives concerning the dispensing of Contraceptives and advocating the Homosexual lifestyle through their LGBTQ Ally group on campus.   If fact, they had listed on their website for foreign students lists of things to bring and it included contraceptives and condoms.  Here is the section from their web page.  Of course, it's not there anymore, but we have it to show you here.

This link is no longer valid.  It has been removed from their site.  They don't want information like this in the public domain.  They are supposed to be "Catholic" so this would be directly opposed to the Moral Teachings of the Catholic Church.

http://mymarywood.com/home/international-students/what-to-bring.html.

Marywood University is fortunate to be located in an area of the United States where we experience all four seasons (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer) each year.  Students should keep this in mind when planning what to bring.

Toiletries

Americans are very particular about hygiene, and go out of their way to prevent body odors of any kind.  Thus, it is common here to use antiperspirants, deodorants, cologne, perfume, aftershave, mouthwash, scented or deodorant soaps, etc.  Please note that is virtually impossible to find natural fiber toothbrushes here.
Many of the items below are available in the United States, but students should bring enough to get to their destination and allow time to settle and get oriented: Please check with your airline for any restrictions. Currently most airlines state passengers must keep liquids carried on board in containers no larger the 100 milliliters and kept in a small plastic bag that is able to be sealed.
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste
  • Soap
  • Hair care products
  • Shaving products
  • Tissues (travel packs are extremely useful)
  • Deodorant
  • Tampons, pads
  • Contraceptives/condoms
  • Contact lens supplies
  • Aspirin/Ibuprofen
  • Lip balm
  • Over-the-counter cold remedies, anti-diarrhea medicine
  • Band aids
  • Topical anti-infectant
  • Nail clipper (remember to pack anything sharp in your suitcase)
  • Insect repellent
As you can see, they really don't want Michael Voris there to disrupt their program of corrupting young Catholic minds.  They go way beyond just the moral aspects of the Church's teachings as well.

The Catholic Church does not permit "Liturgical Dance" in the Sanctuary unless it is directly related to the custom and practice of the Country from which it originates.  It is not permitted in the US.  Well, it seems that doesn't matter to either Marywood or Bishop Bambera, who took over from Bishop Martino.  You know, the one who's answer I posted on the previous "Philadelphia" posting

Well, here is a pic from The Catholic Light and article from  The Rockin Traddy Blog that will ask a good question.

And the Article:
Would you start a Victorian Dance Ensemble if you would never be able to go to a Victorian ball and dance? Would you start a Victorian Dance Ensemble if you knew that Victorian Dance was considered a "dancing abuse"?
Well, that's apparently what some of the IHM "sisters" at Marywood University have done. No, they won't be dressed up like Scarlett O'Hara.
They have started a "Liturgical Dance Ensemble". The Diocese of Scranton, while having its share of liturgical abuses has been relatively unscathed by "liturgical dance".
It would seem our new Bishop is looking to fix that oversight.
At a Christmas concert held at the cathedral of all places, two supposedly Catholic nuns sashayed to and fro about the cathedral in an attempt to highlight their spirituality and creativeness.
Plus it has come to my attention that the good sisters have been prancing during actual Masses, but I have not been able to confirm this.
With few exceptions, the Holy See has said "no" to liturgical dance. James Akin, in his book Mass Confusion, notes that the Congregation for the Sacraments and Divine Worship, in an authoritative 1975 document, cited specific cultures in which liturgical dance has enhanced the liturgy and reflected the religious values of those cultures. But liturgical dance has never been part of the liturgical tradition of the Latin Church, and never been deemed appropriate in the West. The documents states: "Conciliar decisions have often condemned the religious dance because it conduces little to worship and because it could degenerate into disorders." The document adds that pseudo-ballet, or "interpretive dance," which has been tried in liturgy, is also prohibited.
So what's the point?
Why bother starting a "Liturgical Dance Ensemble" if you know you cannot dance liturgically?
Similarly, why would start an organization called "Women Priests" when you know a woman cannot be a priest? There's something more at work here.

It would seem that Marywood falls into that wonderful category of  "Catholic In Name Only" schools we keep harping on.  Bishop Bambera is truly not an adequate replacement for the forthright and diligent Bishop Martino.  In fact, he seems to want to do everything he can to "get along" with all the different factions at play in the Diocese rather than be a Shepard and lead.

A good example of this would be the discussion he had with Rev. Scott Pilarz, S.J." about the scheduled talk given by Sara Bendoraitis, a lecturer in the Department of Sociology at American University. Ms. Bendoraitis belongs to the Facebook group “AU (American University) Students for Choice,” a group that supports abortion rights.

Ms. Bendoraitis obviously supports positions that are contrary to the teaching of the Catholic Church. For this reason, Bishop Bambera has expressed concern to Father Pilarz about the University hosting this speaker.
Father Pilarz has informed the Bishop that he will attend the lecture to ensure that the principles of Catholic teaching are upheld.
Bishop Bambera cited his obligation to ensure that authentic Catholic teaching is being provided in all Catholic institutions in the Diocese, and that viewpoints in opposition to this teaching are not being presented as acceptable alternatives."(The Times Leader).

Well, she gave her talk...she expounded her beliefs about abortion and Fr. Pilarz sat there silent.  (from The Valley Advantage . com)  "Members of the university community who attended Thursday's event, which was not open to the public, said the Rev. Pilarz gave opening remarks that focused on Catholic teaching about inclusiveness and never interceded during the presentation."

So much for The Diocese of Scranton and Bishop Bambera.   How does this make you feel Cardinal Rigali?  Want more?  Maybe you should have answered my letter with a little more than Pablum from a subordinate.  We in the pews really don't like being lied to...especially from someone who is supposed to be our Shepard.  The Chaff will be consumed by the Fire and the Church that results from the burning will be stronger and more brilliant than you could imagine.

More to come on "Pedophiadelphia"
